So, i'll start this off in here...
My name is Liz, Aka Riddle & Ravens, and I... am a bookaholic! LOL. ;)
I'm from Wales in the UK (the South, so not a lot of Welsh speaking goes on here in these parts!) I'm 34 (soon to be 35 in November, eesh.) but don't feel a day over 25, and sometimes forget in all honesty, other than my tastes changing I just don't feel my age, but then I've been told on times I don't look or act it either. 🤣
I love cats, history (show me the Greek mythology, old mansion houses and stories!!), all forms of art, and have a diverse music taste (today's playlist consisted of some 80s style retro wave, 50's and 60's, and BTS....). I have a dry sense of humour, but an extreme sense of humour...I think it's important to laugh in life.
I used to do martial arts quite some time ago, and am looking to take it back up soon. I got up to my third belt in Kung Fu before I had to give it up due to a change of work location, and never got back into it. However, that is hopefully going to change soon. Karate this time around.
I share a birthday with Maggie Stiefvater, one of my favourite Authors and by magic coincidence she is responsible for the "Raven" part of Riddle & Ravens, The Raven cycle being one of my favourite books and series. Ravens have also been a big part of my life, I have two regulars that come into my back garden (they like my trampoline...) and have showed up quite enough in my life coincidentally for me to believe they may be my spirit animal. haha. The Riddle part...well, he who must not be named has something to do with that...Always loved a bad boy.
So everything you see here on my site is just from my head, creating is my passion and by trade I'm a graphic designer, so combining my love of design and books was something I can't quite believe took me this long to do, but I'm so glad I did because I just LOVE getting to create and grow and improve, but also how many amazing people I've met through this online bookish community.
If this is what a few months can do, I'm so excited for the future! <3 Thankyou all for being a part of it! Go ahead and tell me allllll the random facts about yourself! Your turn! :D
Hi! I'm Kayle, and I am also a bookaholic!
I live in Maine, which is in fact not in Canada contrary to popular belief. Living somewhere that is cold and snowy almost 6 months out of the year means that I am a purveyor of indoor hobbies. When I'm not reading, I'm usually knitting! And when I'm not doing either of those things, I'm watching movies and playing boardgames with my husband, son, and two cats (the cats add excellent new rules to boardgames like knocking pieces under couches).
I love to read... Everything. I've recently rediscovered my love for YA books after a lengthy period of feeling too old for them at 32. Thanks to Bookstagram and several book subscription boxes, I am back in the YA family and eating my way through several years of books I missed! I also love classic lit, horror, historical fiction, and have a real soft spot for Russian and Japanese translated literature.
I used to be a part of an in person bookclub but after several years they disbanded as people moved away from Maine. I've been craving a community to talk about books with again and I'm thrilled to be here!
Hey Kayle! Welcome! It's so nice to have you here! ✨ From what I've heard Maine sounds like a beautiful place! I have relatives in Toronto, Montreal and Newfoundland. My Grandfather was Canadian, and also some relatives in America but they are down south haha. I know those places I mentioned are in Canada but close to Maine, on the map atleast haha. I'm guessing that's why a lot of people assume Maine is in Canada. We get the same here, a lot of people assume Wales is in England! Lol! I know that feeling of cats getting involved with board game pieces. I have two myself and they are full of mischief! Thats a shame about your in person book club but hopefully this little community can be a good replacement 💜 Did you come from the Beacon book box post? Once again welcome and so nice to meet you!
So glad to have you be here! Thank you so so much!
@Riddle & Ravens I did come from the Beacon Book Box post!
